2 Stars Less Porky pig
I like the color cartoons better. There is a lot of black and white Porky pig in this volume. I should’ve read the year better I guess.

5 Stars Pure entertainment
This set of cartoons will absolutely thrill both young and older, the characters, the style, the content, all of which were written and voiced so well, the viewer will be entertained. There is a definitive innocense, all the while there also exists a subtle humor intended for the adult. These cartoons will never again be produced in such a way, I therefore recommend that anyone interested in intelligent cartoons, combined with innocense, these are it.

4 Stars Many timeless classics, but some entries more of historical value than for the kiddies
Like many thirty-somethings, I grew up on Looney Tunes. The hilarious exploits of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, the Road Runner, and the gang never failed to disappoint, even when I’d seen the episodes several times over. There was something always fresh and funny about these ‘toons.

As an adult, I can appreciate the art behind the ‘toons a lot better. And it’s definitely there. But still, the main reason we have cartoons is for kids to laugh. So I thought this collection would be perfect for my two girls (both under 6 years old).

For the most part, I was right. Of the four DVDs worth of material, about three-and-a-half are guaranteed to keep my girls in stitches - and they had never seen Bugs Bunny before. (A shameless parenting failure on my part.) Whether it’s Bugs wondering if he should have made the left turn at Albuquerque, Yosemite Sam shrieking “Gold! Gold!”, or Porky Pig stuttering like there’s no tomorrow, these Looney Tunes keep my girls laughing.

But there are several entries, mainly on Disc 4, that are just too darn old and dated to be of much fun. That’s not a criticism of the material, but just a recognition that these were aimed at a different audience- people sitting in theaters waiting for the next film to start. I don’t care that many of the cartoons feature racial or ethnic stereotypes - these comic archetypes are a bit startling today, but I don’t consider them harmful. But after watching Disc 4 once with the girls, the lack of laughter was reason enough to refrain from ever putting it in the player again.

I was also disappointed that there were no appearances by Marvin the Martian or Wile E. Coyote in this compilation, but you can’t have everything. All in all, a darn good collection of ‘toons.

4 Stars Fun
I got this for my brother for Christmas. I wasn’t sure which volume to get so I took a stab in the dark. Hope he likes it!

5 Stars Classic Stuff
I loved Looney Tunes when I was a kid over 40 years ago and my 6 year old son loves them just a much. This is a product worth its weight in gold.

4 Stars So worth it!
I bought the third volume of Looney Toons for my father, who really missed them when they went off the air years ago. He received volume one and two from me for Christmas, so this seemed the natural follow-up for his birthday. He loves them all! I can’t wait to get him the next one. I watched most of them with him and they are all really good quality and exactly as I remembered them from Saturday mornings as a child.

4 Stars Toonbuff
The material is great. However,I think it would be better if the material was in random order on discs, rather than one cartoon subject per disc. Makes it boring.

5 Stars Delightful
These cartoons are absolutely deilghtful, the viewer will be enthralled by the variety of styles contained therein, as well as the adult oriented cartoons, adult meaning that they were written to please both adults and children. These cartoons are definately safe for children, better than some of the genres out there today, and are quite pleasing for the adult standard of entertainment.

5 Stars Great stuff!!!
Just adding to my collection! This is a great addition to any DVD animation collection, and shouldn’t be missed!

5 Stars Who needs Fort Knox when you have this Gold!!!
Better reviews and plenty of valid commendations have been given to this wonderful collection already so I will just add my humble two cents about one disc in particular.

After excitingly perusing the contents, I was eager to watch all cartoons immediately but the disc I expected the least from was the Porky Pig Disc as Porky never stood out in my childhood memories, always being upstaged by Bugs and Daffy…

BOY was I wrong!!! The Porky cartoons are AMAZING! Incredibly fast paced and surprisingly ahead of its time, they are laugh out loud funny and entertaining as ever. The highlight for me is Frank Tashlin’s gem in which Porky and Daffy attempt to escape a hotel without paying the bill. Tashlin’s filmmaking eye gives an extra dimension of humour to his cartoons and the comraderie created between pig and duck is awe inspiring and side splitting!

Bye Bye Blubeard is another SMASH, part of the humour being the fact that Blubeard is genuinely frightening, and I don’t think I will ever laugh as much as I did with the pie in the face gag.

Porky’s Romance (another Tashlin cartoon) is also worthy of praise as is nearly all cartoons on this disc, and all the cartoons in this collection.

5 Stars Great Buy
I think this dvd series is a must for anyone who grew up watching cartoons at 6am on saturday mornings. This set has some fantastic episodes. The only complaint I have about the set is that the dvd’s are separated by character. I love the road runner cartoons but an entire disk of road runner is just way too much. Other than constantly switching dvd’s in my dvd player it’s a must for any looney tunes fan. Great special features as well. All and all Warner did a great job.

5 Stars Looney Tunes Golden Collection - Vol II
This edition is even better than the first one! It has more Road Runner! meep meep!

1 Star Why do I order stuff and pay money for nothing?
I wouldnt know how the product was cause I never recieved the product. An ongoing problem I have had with this site and I hope that the amazon team improves this problem soon.

5 Stars a must have for looney toon lovers
I bought this for Christmass gift. The entire family loved it1! Including extended family. We sat for hours watching all the great classics. A must have for Looney-Tune lovers. Highly recommended.

5 Stars RARELY SEEN CARTOONS
I purchased this as a gift and it was a big hit. There are some old, rarely seen cartoons that are really clever and creative. I’m glad I bought this set!

5 Stars Ah, memories!
I purchased this a few weeks back, wanting to share the laughs of my youth with my kids. We sat and watched all of the first dvd on the first day we recieved it, and each dvd every day afterwards until we’d watched all four.

I feel like it’s a pretty good mixture of the looney tunes and merry melodies cartoons. It is missing one of my personal favorites, that’s Transylvania 6-5000. And I was hoping it’d have a cartoon with the abominable snowman in it…’I will love you, and hug you, and squeeze you, and call you George’. :)
The quality of the dvd is great, you can see every little piece of dust they accidentally captured between the screens! I enjoy the artistic value of these cartoons, and really enjoyed the bonuses.

Overall, I really love this collection, and am planning on expanding on my looney tunes/merry melodies library until I have them all!

4 Stars Toonbuff
Great stuff. I just wish the cartoons were in random order on the discs rather than one cartoon subject per disc.

3 Stars half-way decent tunes collection
My husband & I were nursed on Looney Tunes growing up in the 60’s & 70’s. We use one-liners from Buggs hourly, or as needed. This collection is a good start for a personal library. It has some of the classics that are undeniable. But like many greatest hits albums… It’s not truely divitive. Especially for the price. The discription on Amazon didn’t offer enough info about which episodes are in each volume. Maybe I could’ve chosen a better set.

5 Stars Had to have it!
I already had a copy of this, and somehow it went missing! It’s a great collection, and a must for Warner Bros. fans!

4 Stars Excellent
The shorts are all digitally remastered, so they look amazing on this dvd set. The only fault I’ve found is that when I try to play them on my computer, I have trouble getting the menu screen to work properly. It’s not the computer, I’ve tried it on others. Other than that, great to watch on tv.
